Julie Hascoët | Journal mexicain | 2012
This series has been shot in Mexico between july and november 2012.
It is a photographic diary of my everyday life, a poetic look on what surrounds me. My work is mainly about still life. My interest (and attraction) for remains, ruins – forms which are no longer complete, in-between situations – can yet be felt in this work. The fragileness of things is softly behind each picture.
Julie Hascoët was born in Douarnenez (France) in 1989.
She studied Visual Arts at the University from 2007 to 2009.
In 2009, she entered l’École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie (Arles, France) and graduated in 2012. From july to november 2012, she was artist-in-residency in Mexico City. Back in France, in 2013, she founded the project ZINES OF THE ZONE, with Guillaume Thiriet. It is a mobile library dedicated to self-published photobooks and photozines. From january to july 2014, they travelled around Europe and organized pop-up events in 30 countries and 58 cities.
